When to apply to a Canadian university
Review the selection criteria for the course(s) at the university of your choice (it would be better to consider more than just one university) to ensure you have the required prerequisites for entry. Consider writing to the faculty head(s), if you have not yet identified a potential supervisor. Your application would be considerably strengthened if it included a supporting letter from a faculty member indicating that, if accepted, that individual would supervise your work.
There is no need to apply to the universities before applying for the Oxford-Canada scholarship but you should know when the universities open and close their applications periods (most Canadian universities open applications after the scholarship applications have closed).
Selection criteria
Oxford-Canada scholars are selected based on:
- academic excellence
- character
- leadership potential, as demonstrated through extra-curricular involvement
Selection of Oxford-Canada Scholars is made without regard to gender, gender identity, marital status, sexual orientation, race, ethnic origin, colour, religion, social background, caste, or disability.
